Human body parts wash up near Olympics beach volleyball site

A beach goer Wednesday discovered human body parts that had washed up on the shore, right in front of the Olympic Beach Volleyball Arena on Rio's famed Copacabana beach.

A dismembered foot and another body part still unidentified was found, according to Andre Luiz, an officer of the Military Police. Police believe the victim was a woman or young adult.

The circumstances surrounding the person's death are unknown.

Japan donates $89,662 medical equipment to Nigeria

The Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria, Mr Sadanobu Kusaoke, on Thursday, inaugurated medical equipment worth $89, 662 donated by Government of Japan to help improve the health status of Nigerians. The inauguration took place at the Bwari General Hospital.

“We are handing over 25 types of medical equipment and tools today to Bwari General Hospital. “Large number of people come from Abuja, Kaduna and Niger to the hospital every day, but it could not provide patients with appropriate services because of lack of medical equipment. “The shortage of equipment, in the worst cases, caused many babies and pregnant women to die despite the fact that their lives would have been saved with just one sort of equipment. “Responding to the request from the hospital through Women’s Right to Education Programme, we have taken action to bridge the gap and now successfully completed the project. “We strongly wish that the medical equipment provided by the government of Japan will contribute to the reduction in child and maternal mortality in Bwari, as well as neighbouring areas.”

The high point of the event was the commissioning of medical equipment, labour room, hospital beds and maternity theatre.

Brexit: Companies turn from UK to African countries

With the recent referendum by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union, many businesses with existing or planned investment interests in the UK have started turning to African countries. According to it, it is essential that investors and businesses understand the opportunities that Africa’s new economic frontiers present.

Two Indian nationals kidnapped in Nigeria

Suspected terrorists have kidnapped two Indian nationals from Gboko, a town in the Benue state of north-central Nigeria, family members of one of them here said on Thursday.

Mangipudi Sai Srinivas who hails from Visakhapatnam and his colleague Anish Sharma were reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday.

Srinivas's relatives approached the district collector N Yuvaraj today, requesting him to take steps for their release.

Sharma and Srinivas were travelling to Dangote Cement Plc Plant in a car from their residential quarters at around 7.20 pm on Wednesday when a group of armed men kinapped them at a traffic signal.

Srinivas's wife M Lalitha said he is a civil engineer and has been working for Dangote Cement in Gboko for the last three years. Before that he worked with Aditya Birla group in Raipur.

"I tried to reach my husband on Wednesday but could not contact him. I called up the officials of the Plant this morning and they informed me about kidnapping," she said.

Collector N Yuvaraj said that Nigerian authorities had launched a search operation, and the district administration had contacted the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassy in Nigeria about the development.

Update: Buhari’s bodyguard arrested over link to Boko Haram

The body guard attached to President Muhammadu Buhari, Corporal Hassan Aminu, who was reportedly arrested by the Department of State Service, DSS, over his alleged link to Boko Haram insurgent is currently in custody and is being interrogated by the secret police.

A DSS operative who pleaded not to be mentioned confirmed the development to Daily Post.

A Cameroonian man, Sharkan Lucas, got his 15 seconds of fame on Wednesday after he made shocking revelations on how he took to having sex with dead bodies due to constant rejection from ladies because he works as mortuary attendant.

Lucas, an attendant at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, insisted he was mentally stable.

Speaking on Ghanaian TV station ADOM TV, the mortician claimed that sleeping with the dead women (an act called necrophilia) was part of the training he received when he was hired at the hospital in Ghana.

Lucas said, “I do it many many times. That is the training you have to do that, because once you have done that you will not be afraid of them again. If you want to bath the dead body, you will carry her legs up to wash her private part, that’s why we are taught to learn to sleep with the corpses. When I am inside the mortuary, I see some fresh girls and I satisfy myself.

“Being with dead bodies is normal for me because I am with them day and night. I feel like they are living whenever I am at work.

“Besides, I wanted to marry but the girl says I am a mortuary man. I can satisfy myself at the mortuary because girls don’t want to date me outside or live with me for fear that I may kill them. Living women rejected me because of my job, that is why I am still single.

“Since I was born, I have never slept with a living being. Working in a mortuary is a gift God gave me, it’s my talent. It’s very rare, not everybody can do it.

“I am okay, I have no mental issues,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lucas said he was sacked shortly after he divulged his affairs on camera.

He said, “When I got back to work three day after (yesterday), my colleague said my supervisor brought policemen to arrest me. They did not let me go near the mortuary again and I have worked with them for 2 years and 6 months and I have not been paid.

“I want them to pay my money so I can go back to my country,” Lucas said.
